The 2013 Hyundai Genesis sedan was named Best-in-Segment (tied with the Audi A4), topping the near-luxury car category in Strategic Vision’s 2013 Total Quality Index (TQI). Overall, Hyundai Motor Corporation tied for third place with General Motors Corporation for Best Total Quality for an individual brand. The Total Quality Index measures total vehicle satisfaction among new car owners, reflecting not only the quality of the vehicles, but the emotional connections which accommodate all aspects of the ownership experience.
The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport outperformed its competitors to earn the distinction of “Best in Class SUV/Crossover under $28,000” in the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) annual Winter Vehicle Awards, which honor the best cars, trucks, crossovers and SUVs for handling New England’s difficult winter driving conditions.
Hyundai Motor America announced sales of 63,315 units, up two percent versus the same period in 2012.
“April is always a transitional month going into our peak selling season and we were pleased with the strength that both the industry and our award-winning lineup of vehicles exhibited,” said Dave Zuchowski, executive vice president of national sales. “Through the first four months of this year, HMA has shattered its all-time volume mark, and with strong economic signals, improving availability and a historically strong selling season directly in front of us, we fully expect to continue this record-setting trend for the first six months of the year.”
Elantra sales for the month were 24,445 units, up 45 percent over last April and up 29 percent year-to-date. The all-new award-winning Santa Fe, which is offering families a fresh alternative in this highly competitive segment, had sales of 6,940 units for the month, up 10 percent over April 2012 and 27 percent for the year.
2012 Hyundai Elantra
We are not surprised that the 2012 Hyundai Elantra won the North American Car of the Year. It is stylishly designed, well-engineered and equipped, loaded with safety features, and affordably priced! Plus it gets great gas mileage and is fun to drive! I went to the Hyundai Newsroom for details about the award and this is what they have written:
Recently I came across a review of the 2012 Accent By Antuan Goodwin as posted on reviews.cnet.com. I though it was a pretty detailed review so wanted to pass this on to you!
The good: The 2012 Hyundai Accent SE is surprisingly fun to drive and offers a respectable level of cabin technology, including Bluetooth calling and audio streaming, USB and iPod connectivity, and SiriusXM satellite radio.
The bad: Hyundai’s navigation system is not available on any Accent model.
The bottom line: The 2012 Hyundai Accent SE continues Hyundai’s streak of great cars with great tech, but the omission of a navigation option keeps this entry-level model from getting top marks.
Hyundai seems to be batting a thousand these days. Working its way from the top to the bottom of its lineup, the Korean automaker has debuted a pair of luxury sedans in the Genesis and the Equus, a line of performance Genesis Coupes, the Sonata that’s caused the Japanese competition to take notice, and the Elantra sedan that’s as good–if not better–than any Civic lacking an Si badge. Hyundai now turns its attention to its entry-level Accent: a car that, in its previous generation was noteworthy for once holding the title of cheapest car in America with its sub-$10,000 price tag.
